Interfaith Hospitality Network of Springfield, Inc.

Interfaith Hospital Network helps individuals and families overcome homelessness in Springfield and Clark County. Our church provides meals during the year for the family shelter.  

Manna Food Pantry

The Manna Food Pantry serves the Southeastern School District in Clark County Ohio and is housed in the First Presbyterian Church (FPC) in South Charleston. It is supported by area churches and community members. As a congregation, we provide monetary donations periodically throughout the year for vouchers, and we supply food on a monthly basis. Download the list to see what food items are being accepted for the month. You can bring those donated items to the SCUMC, or other area churches, and the committee will make sure those items are given to the pantry for distribution. Food distributions from Manna Foods will be every other month. Joyful Blessings

The goal of Joyful Blessings is that no child experiences hunger after school. We provide financial support and volunteers each week to help pack boxes of food that go home with the students identified and recommended by the Southeastern staff. At the junior and high school level, Joyful Blessings also maintains a pantry of items for those students. This program is a supplemental weekend food program and only serves the Southeastern Local School district.

Mountain Mission in Kentucky

For over 70 years the United Methodist Mountain Mission has offered moderately priced items in their eight opportunity stores, which residents of Eastern Kentucky can then affordably obtain. In addition to providing employment to 70 area families, items are donated to families who’ve experienced loss. Our church members box and donate gently used clothing and household items. Trucks from the mission come twice a year. 

UMCOR

The United Methodist Committee on Relief lives out signs of Christ’s extravagant grace nationally and internationally by prayerfully working with communities overwhelmed by natural or man-made disasters. UMCOR builds on the strengths of what is already available in a community and actively involves the people affected in recovery efforts.   Our church provides cleaning, hygiene and school kits, as well as special offerings.    Scroll down for the kit supply lists.

Around the World

Annoor Sanatorium

For over 50 years the Annoor Sanatorium for Chest Diseases has been treating tuberculosis among the Bedouin people of Jordan. It was founded by Dr. Eleanor Soltau and nurse Aileen Coleman in 1965 as a small Christian medical facility. In 1973 the addition of a new building was added. It was built by a member of our church — Lester Gates. The staff at this facility now treats nearly 20,000 people each year, serving patients from Jordan and the surrounding countries in the Middle East.

Heifer International

Heifer International is on a mission to end hunger and poverty in a sustainable way by supporting and investing alongside local farmers and their communities. They work to end hunger and poverty in partnership with the communities they serve. The participants are given both livestock and seed, which is then followed-up with training. Heifer International programs support entrepreneurs around the world, creating lasting change from the ground up.

UMCOR RELIEF SUPPLY KITS

We are collecting items for UMCOR Relief Supply Kits at the narthex mission shelf.   UMCOR kits are taken to Annual Conference and are stored in the closest UMCOR network warehouse (Midwest Mission, Illinois), until needed in the United States.

For your convenience, items for the three kits are listed below.     

Cleaning Kit – our church has buckets.     Pay close attention to the size specifications and descriptions as the list has been updated since last spring.       Thank you!

• One 32-64 oz. bottle liquid laundry detergent

• One 16-40 oz. bottle liquid concentrate household cleaner -No spray cleaners
  
• One 16-34 oz. bottle dish soap
  
• One 4-8 oz. pump spray air freshener
  
• One 6-14 oz. pump spray insect repellent (pack of 10-20 wipes also acceptable)
  • Pump spray bottles must have protective covers
    
• One scrub brush
  
• 18 re-useable cleaning wipes – No terrycloth, microfiber or paper towels

• Five scouring pads – No stainless-steel pads with soap in them.

• 36 – 50 clothespins                                                                                 
  
• One 50-100 ft. clothesline (cotton or plastic line)
  
• 24 roll of heavy-duty trash bags (33-45-gallon sizes)
  
• Five N95 particulate respirator dust masks (1-3 mm thickness)
  • No surgical masks

• Two pairs kitchen gloves (like Playtex or Mr. Clean) – Durable for multiple uses.

• One pair work gloves – cotton with leather palm or all leather.

Hygiene Kits Materials:

• One hand towel (15 x 25 –17 x 27 inches) — No kitchen, cleaning, or microfiber towels
  
• One washcloth — No kitchen, cleaning, or microfiber towels
  
• One comb – Must be sturdy with at least 6 inches of teeth – No pocket combs or picks

• One toenail or fingernail clipper – No emery boards or metal nail files.

• Bath-size soap (3 oz. bar or larger) — No Ivory or Jergen’s soap

• One adult toothbrush
  
• 10 adhesive bandages (3/4 by 3 inches) — common household bandages acceptable.
  
• One, one-gallon size re-sealable bag to pack the items.

School Kit items include:

• One pair blunt scissors – –Round tip only,  No plastic scissors
  
• One box of 24 crayons — Only 24-count boxes are accepted
  
• Three one-subject notebooks– No marble composition books
  
• One pack of loose-leaf paper
  • 100-200 page packets are acceptable, wide or college rule accepted

• One hand-held pencil sharpener — 1 inch or longer

• One ruler — 12 inches or 30 centimeters long, sturdy or flexible

• Six unsharpened pencils

• One eraser — 2 inches or larger

• One – two gallon re-sealable plastic bag. (or place items in a plastic grocery bag)
